Can you play like Tiger Woods if you change your golf attire? Will it make you swing better?

There’s only one Tiger Woods and there will always be only one Tiger Woods. You can wear something from the Tiger Woods Collection or you can wear Nike Golf, Ashworth, Puma, Ben Hogan, Callaway Golf, and any other brand name in golf wear that you can think of. But would it not be in your best interest to wear something comfortable and at the same time conducive to giving you your best swing?

Think loose sleeves when putting on a shirt—you will want the room to swing your arms. Think comfortable sneakers for running across the green as you watch the ball fly into the 18th hole. Golf wear can be brand name if you like it and it happens to make you the most comfortable out there on the green, but if you are comfortable in your favorite cotton T-shirt instead, then go for it! There is no sense in swinging a club around, trying hard to concentrate and not feel the prickly eyes of critics that enjoy scoping out non-brand name wearers stinging on your back. All you need is focus, without the extraneous distractions. If the golf wear makes you comfortable and you play well with it on, then there is absolutely no need to worry what others will think. Even if what you wear is a bit old, as long as you like it, brand does not matter.

Tiger Woods will still be Tiger Woods even if he wears a toga while playing golf, as you will still be you if you do the same. Just like there is no giant magic beanstalk that you can climb that will help you find everything you need, there are no clothes that will suddenly make you a better player. But you knew that already right? Consider famous Olympic athletes. When they arrive with their team, they are wearing the athletic wear that best represents their sport and their country. Now, granted their outfits are probably designed and fitted especially for the event, but they have their own unique style that they are proud of when they walk across the stadium. You should feel the same when you show up out on the green. It does not have to be a brand name, but as long as you put something together that best represents you and your team, that is all that matters. Your own style is all the confidence you need.

You may not be Tiger Woods, but you are out there to make a name for yourself, do your best, and just have fun. So get out there and tee off in whatever you want to wear!
